APHA takes its show on the road with exciting new Paint Vegas competition

FORT WORTH, Texas—The American Paint Horse Association (APHA) recently announced plans for a bold new show, Paint Vegas, which will take place December 5-10, 2006, at the South Point Hotel and Casino’s all-new equestrian complex in Las Vegas, Nev. APHA’s executive committee announced plans for the exciting new showcase event during the association’s 35th Annual Convention, held recently in Atlanta, Ga.

At the Convention, APHA Director of Shows Tina Anderson presented plans for Paint Vegas—expected to be the association’s second-largest show. The concept of a large association-produced show in addition to the annual World Championship Paint Horse Show—held annually in Fort Worth, Texas—has been in development for several years, and is now a reality.

“Paint Vegas will provide a fantastic setting for a second major showing opportunity for our growing breed,” said Anderson. “Our ultimate goal with this show is to continue increasing the value of the American Paint Horse.”

Far more than a typical horse show, Paint Vegas promises five fun-filled days of futurity, jackpot and slot classes in true Las Vegas style. One major feature of the new show is that all classes will pay out money in lieu of points. Another is a stunning new award trophy designed by acclaimed sculptor Marrita McMillian.

The South Point Casino equestrian center is now under construction in Las Vegas. It is being promoted as one of the finest indoor horse facilities in the country, with 1,200 climate-controlled stalls and 4,400 seats, in addition to 80,000 square feet of exhibit space decorated to look like part of the casino.

Plans for Paint Vegas are ongoing. Look for updates at www.aphapaintvegas.com, or contact the APHA Performance Department at (817) 834-2742, extension 773.
